Make That Network Work For Your Shopping!

Sometimes we can’t help but think that we’ve seen the last of what the Internet and conventional stores can offer in terms of variety. After all, when we shop from stores, websites and many other major retail facilities, there are items that we know somebody else will find. Perhaps a beautiful pair of shoes will pique your interest, or that fancy dress you chanced upon, or a nice jacket that your friends tell you that you should try. Whatever happens, that great find you grabbed will also probably be snapped up by at least several hundred more people, who will also be willing to shell out the money needed for it.

One of the ways suggested as an alternative to seeking out clothes from stores or from conventional websites is to try and search for your finds through social networking sites. There are a lot of finds waiting for you there, and all you have to do is start browsing!

Once highly touted for their usefulness in dating situations and in meeting new people, social networking platforms like MySpace, Facebook, Twitter and the like are fast becoming very popular venues for vendors to sell their wares. Relying on their own personal networks as well as the networks of their friends, they take advantage of the Internet’s power to connect people with one another to make a little money.

You can browse through these networking social media sites and see the vast wealth of possibilities. Facebook has a Marketplace application through which people can post whatever it is they want to sell, and you can search through the posts for what you need. When you find your match, the website lets you send a message to the seller to begin any potential transaction. You can then choose to either meet up personally or to have the items and money simply sent to one another.

Some things to keep in mind:

Perform the mandatory background check! We can take for granted the fact that there are people out to make a quick and dirty buck, and we think “It will never happen to me!” Still, it doesn’t hurt to be careful. Before you buy anything from somebody, make sure you can adequately trust him or her.

Ask for information – addresses, landline phone numbers, even Social Security numbers. If they’re hesitant to give info, be wary.

Be careful of what info you provide!
Don’t give credit card numbers, personal addresses or the like. While it may sound contradictory to the previous point, you’re the one that stands to lose more if you give that away. You’re the buyer here, so naturally sellers should adjust to you.
Ask your friends! These social networking sites help you communicate with your friends, so don’t be afraid to ask if they know something. If you’re the type to help with their own transactions, they’re bound to be ready to return the favor.
Look around! Like any form of online shopping, if you don’t like the price of a certain item and you think you can still get it for cheaper, keep looking. The Internet is a huge place. Chances are you’ll find something cooler and cheaper too.
Be quick when you need to be! Most good offers online can be snapped up by other Netizens really quickly. Therefore, if you’re sure about something you want to buy, and the price is right, try to get it right away before other people do!

Pass it forward!
The funny thing about networking is that it’s making the world really small. One person’s voice can reach millions. So if you liked your experience buying from someone, let others know and help the seller out! It’s not just good courtesy. It’s also a great way to make and keep friends.

Hey, I do agree with what you said. It's good to do some networking since it is like pay it forward with a twist. Still you need to be careful when giving such information since there is nothing safe in the world. Heck, even celebrities even get caught with their private information / things. With the explosion of the networking industry, I am pretty much sure that with careful planning comes great results!
